Lab 3 Pt2B Communicating , and Ethics

The latter part of lesson 3 part  held so many key instructions on Communication 

The topics discussed were all co related, in that  they all fell under the umbrella of effective communication.

I am happy I  made some head way with after   pitching my initative , Im thankfulto god for the progress , not letting too much out yet , but little progress is progress ,and I thinkI owe it to effectively and clearly communicating  my initative,thank you Changemakers Lab I  am taking notes .

After listening to Andrea expound on effective media communication in lesson 6 ,I took time to do the worksheet and wrote down my answers,   I  found that I was famaliar with some of the suggested pointers from the video and worksheet  and have already implemented some of them in my emails and phone conversations  with some of the persons on   my list of potential colllaborators ,persons who have reached out to me after reading my previous  initative update,  although  there was so much more to take away from the lessons . 

I  am glad I already have a headstart in terms of having a list of media persons with whom I have built a reliable relationship  ,  which landed me an a feature on March 8th of this year with one of our leading newspapers ,which highlighted my achievements with world pulse as part of their International Womens Day commeration .

I was also interviewed on our local gospel  Radio Station ,where I s hared my story  on national radio , encouraging women ,not to allow their circumstances to dictate their futures, sharing also on y work with World Pulse and my award as one of the Top  Rising Voices . . The feed back was amazing and immediate , so many were impacted by my contribution .

Sherna,s presentation on ethics in communication reminded me of the legality of using social media , the importance of using the privacy settings available to us when sharing content , one of the things I practise is , if something isnt to be shared you can use the option to  remove the share button .i do understand on a larger scale how important it is to check your source .

After having a bad experience with a photographer concerning sharing photos I paid him to shoot for me for brand promotion  ,I  now read the fine print in contracts carefully and have through discussion before proceeding , because as I learnt from that situation copyright laws can be quite tricky and once things are placed in the public domain you lose your right to privacy , now that anything can be screen shotted .

Plagiarism  was such  a bad word in  University ,Plagiarism is a word that caused me long hours of  excess writing and rewriting my essays , in my own words and being mindful not to forget to add credits to the authors I may have quoted , but it resulted in me having a practical  understanding  of ethics in communication and developing my writing skills .
