Community Book Corner Opens

It was a memorable day for children in the village of Divisoria in Alangalang, Leyte, Philippines. February 27, 2022 was the modest opening of their Community Book Corner which will be managed by the girls themselves led by Aira Dangcalan who will serve as the Librarian. Aira, 14 years old is a senior high school student who dreams to become an astronomer.
Boys and girls stopped their games and trooped to the elementary school where the Book Corner is located. It was a Sunday and children were excited because they haven't attended face-to-face classes since the COVID 19 outbreak. The school principal offered to assist the girls in coming up with their Book Corner policies.
Those who attended the opening happily took out books of their choice for home reading. Aira reminded them to take care of the books and return them after reading. Village officials expressed their appreciation of the book corner initiative.
