The voice I found
I joined World Pulse since 2019 was not very active. This was because I thought World Pulse was so demanding and there is nothing I can gain from it. But the Changemakers Lab has changed my mind set and perspectives. From gaining alot of knowledge from the modules to knowing and connecting with alot of amazing people. Module one thought me how to set SMART goals and map resources. Module two expanded my knowledge on Empowerment. Our organisation's goal is achieving gender equality and we strive to do so through the empowerment of women and girls. The various frameworks and ways of measuring empowerment was a great resource to me. The lesson on building a community assisted me in building my own community. I live in Bamenda, the chief town of Mezam Division but I'm able to effectively carry out activities in Bui division thanks to the wonderful community I have. Partnership has also been a great resource. Through it, our organisation was able to implement a project on gender based violence. We built our capacities on project implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation and various policies an organisation should have. Module three gave me my voice. I wrote my menstruation story after a long time. Before, I was ashamed to share my experiences but because of the Changemakers Lab, I found my voice and told my story. Through Module three, I also learned how to effectively work with the media. Facebook and twitter are some of the media outlets I use to seek visibility. Our twitter handle is @owedngo Our Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100064892584334 Our website is www.owed19.org City FM radio is one of the community radio stations we use in Bamenda to make our voices heard and create impact. I have decided to be my own communicator to share about my work thanks to this program. The what and the how in module four have helped me developed skills in the production of reusable pads. I envisaged donating pads to 100 girls but never had any funding. After our first distribution, the feedback showed that the girls preferred reusable pads to disposable pads because of it's sustainability. I had to engage in recycling materials and training other girls for more production. Along the line, some materials were scarce and I thought I have failed because I couldn't complete the task.I started researching for alternatives and I found the best and cheaper one. Module five crowned it all with development of skills in grant writing. Through the Changemakers Lab, I have met many amazing people, colleagues, buddy, mentor and collaborators. It will forever be a life changing activity I engaged in. Thank you so much Ana and the Changemakers team. Thank you so much dear colleagues. The journey has just begun and I pray these connections don't end after this program. More is yet to come. "Beriwo "
