BOOK CLUB ,MEET UP



BOOK CLUB hosted by liz is a  virtual safe space for us to come together as women and share our reading list , highlight mostly our female authors , learning from their journey and being inspired to write ours.

Im happy to report we are 32 members strong having been launched  3 weeks ago , and we will be meeting up this sunday , on a Facebook live on Sunday 26th March 2023 as we present our 2nd Author 

Dr. Johnetta McSwain , out of the US

Abuse Survivor , Now Author ,LifeCoach , Motivational Speaker , the list goes on 

She has a very impressive CV ,having risen above the negative  childhood experiences of rape ,  severe abuse and the trauma that accompanies it .

She penned her life story in a compelling autobiography ,RISING ABOVE THE SCARS ,she will speak on this and her lifes journey .

"In April, 2009, in honor of National Child Abuse and Neglect Month, the EMMY Award documentary,

“The Road Beyond Abuse”, debuted on Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB). The documentary directed

and produced by GPB and narrated by Jane Fonda depicted Johnnetta and her slightly older sister brutal

life story of sexual, physical and emotional abuse by three uncles and their mother. The documentary

shed light on the statistics of sexual abuse and the adverse factors that it cause in later life.

Dr. McSwain, is the author of her compelling autobiography, “Rising Above the Scars”, describing her

life’s triumphant journey of how she broke generational cycles of brutal childhood sexual, physical and

emotional abuse, high school drop-out, drugs, single parenting, promiscuity, bullying, hurt, pain,

welfare, poverty, substance abuse, jail and death."
