Zimbabwean Food-A healthy delicacy

Greetings from Zimbabwe

I come from a country that is aware of what we eat.We have for a long time preserved the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle through our diet.

This lifestyle has however been threatened through westernization of our diets which has led to prevalence of diseases such as the many cancers.

There is now ,a call to revert to our traditional way of life. With traditional foods topping the list.

The nutritional plate on my picture consits of the well known and widely ate meal of sadza(staple food),beef and vegetables (covo). This meal is balanced in that sadza is made from mealie-meal which is a carbohydrate and energy giving food; beef is a protein and also provides fats since its cooked in oil and lastly covo which we just call vegetables provides vitamins. This plate looks attractive because it has all the colors of nutrition as we have been taught in our country.Apart from being a delicacy it is a balanced plate.
