Your voice is a strong wind of change to the listening ears

A community where men are the owners and women are properties. A community where men are the decision makers.
I was born in a community where land belongs to the men. This community wanted to grab our land because all the males are gone. I have lost all my brothers and two sisters due HIV/AIDS, all the seven men, our first born was the last go three weeks ago.
“The leaders of this village are going to strangle me to death now that I have no son to claim this land”, my mother Nociata Alweny, 66 years of age confessed this the very hour her last son passed on.

After the burial, the land issue took a sour angle, several people approached us that the elders of the land were planning to throw us out of our land.
I contacted World Pulse for advice, I was mentored so I also mentored my mother, I told her that there is a group of women worldwide supporting us and that she needed not to worry. I told her about the power of our voice and how saying whatever counts makes a difference.

With the power of the voice at the back of her mind, when asked to speak my mother stood up and narrated the history of our land, mentioned the current rules that women and girls also have the right to own land, she also said my four nephews will soon grow to take over the responsibilities. AND she said no one should think her family is \"finished\", it is instead larger than before, 17 grand children and three daughters make hers a family of 20 compared to the used-to-be12. She said she would follow the law if anyone tampered with our family properties, She spoke with such confidence.

Being the first speaker in the great community meeting, no one opposed her, no one raised a voice, and even those who came with full energy to speak whatever they wanted had to coil their tails. It was concluded that no one tempers with our family affairs illegally.

These are the powerful tangible miracles and great wind of change in my community as a result of World Pulse Community mentorship and the power of the voice. Your voice is a strong wind of change to the listening ears; your voice is the power that transforms cultures, languages and people.
