Young Founder's Journey: Sexually Transmitted Anything

Sex sells. Who knew barter trade is still in existence after cowrie shells and cereals got replaced with currency. Only that the currency is now sex.

The fairer sex as women are sometimes referred to often than not find themselves in unfair situations. A sweet 16 teenager in high school being eyed by the nerdy physics teacher hoping to get a piece of her innocence in exchange for an A in physics. A University student with a Higher Education Board Loan seeking a better life for herself and her siblings finds that to make her missing grades magically appear or to get that second class upper, she had better accept the boisterous lecturer's advances.

In corporate circles, these tales continue with women being coerced in to using sex as currency to keep their jobs or to even get paid maternity leave. 🙄 The nerve!

So in a sense, sexually transmitted grades, jobs, opportunities etc diminish our value as women. Brains and beauty they say, but would rather see and use the beauty than appreciate the brains. 

Now, as I steadily walk this founder's journey, seeking collaboration and building networks, I have met people who half listen to my pitch and are quick to end the meeting with a date in mind. Yes I am passionate and persistent but trading in my efforts for favours through sleazy sex, nada. 

I understand the nuances, poverty contributes greatly to this problem. But women supporting other women is key. We won't see a fellow woman as chattel, as currency but as a human being eking a living, living a dream.
