You Op-Eds Are Fantastic--Think About Pitching!

Dear Correspondents,

You have submitted some of the strongest and most timely op-eds in this program that we've seen yet. Katie and Michele of the Op-Ed Project agree, and they wanted to encourage you to take advantage of the pitching resources they have online (Pitching Advice below). Remember that there is basic pitching advice in the Module 3 materials. If you are interested in pitching your piece and have questions, please feel free to let our team know. You'll have to do the basic research on your own, we cannot necessarily suggest places to pitch your piece to. However, I would recommend thinking about both international AND local publications/newspapers. Always remember to think about your safety!

Pitching Advice

Regarding advice on pitching and placement, we encourage you to aim high, and also have at least one or two strategic backup options. You can find basic guidelines for successful pitching to major outlets here, and we also post detailed contact and submission information for many major outlets here. Finally, we have a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page, here. If you have not yet pitched successfully op-eds to a major outlet, we strongly encourage you to read this FAQ page now. In it, we specifically address common questions including, "Where should I pitch?"; "Can I pitch to more than one place?"; and "How do I follow up?/How long do I need to wait?"
