You are Strength

Dear Young Girl,

From the moment you were born, they spread your legs to define who you are, weakness or strength will be announced to those who have been eagerly awaiting your arrival. \"It's a girls\" these words sound like a curse to the men who had been pacing up and down with anticipation of who hid for nine months. Once they know \"it is a girl\", the expression on their faces tells of anguish, hate, and dismay,  a woman is been born to the family. Neighbours peek through the broken gates wondering if a male child was born to the family, no one announces your arrival to those who want to celebrate your birth, weakness defines you.

Your birth is not celebrated by many, yet you spring us like a rose bush, beautiful although thorns cover your life. Your petals remind the world of the beauty in you but many want to pluck you out even before you bloom to the fullest, they too cannot wait to see your potential, they must smell and caress the petals although they enjoy scattering them in the dirt.  You have been plucked from the hope of ever knowing what it means to become a fully bloom flower yet this too will not drain strength. Your war with the world wages on.

Stand up high even though your shoulders carry more than you can manage to bear, much is expected of you yet little is channeled towards your future. A book is for those who have been defined as strength, well, you were defined as weakness from birth. You yearn to learn, to know the world from a different light.  I tell you this, decide this now, today, decide to speak even though no one is listening, decide to know what the books hide on their pages. Take the bold move to find knowledge, a book will teach you so much, knowledge will give you strength, never see marriage as the end but the price at the end of your education.

My sweet young girl, you have developed so beautifully, your fruits are admired by many but never let them pluck until you have gained the knowledge of the book.  Each day brings more trouble and worry but your kind is rising up to fight with you. Celebrate being you. You are Strength
