story
World Pulse sisters across the globe gather together in a special edition of Encourager Party. World Pulse hosts monthly Encourager Parties to introduce new members to the World Pulse Encourager Program and to celebrate the leadership of Encouragers. This event usually takes place every last Friday of the month. This International Women's Day, World Pulse #ChooseToChallenge by gathering its esteemed Encouragers to unleash a global wave of encouragement by launching the campaign #HerStoryMakesHistory.
The year 2020 set women back, but World Pulse reimagines the possibilities in 2021. The campaign #HerStoryMakesHistory is \"to amplify the rising voices the world needs to hear for a post-pandemic future and that highlights the power of storytelling to create women's leadership and lasting positive change.\"
World Pulse marks March 8, 2021 as a historic event. In this special session of Encourager Party, World Pulse Director of Community Engagement Dawn Arteaga hosts the event. World Pulse CEO and Founder Jensine Larsen officially launched the Her Story Makes History campaign, \"We cannot make history without including women's stories\". It is time to bring women's voices forward. Her ideas and solutions are what the world is waiting to hear. World Pulse is here to make that happen.
With the launching of #HerStoryMakesHistory campaign, Jensine Larsen showed a short yet powerful World Pulse promotional ad redefining \"Girl Talk\". This ad premieres on the same day that will be shown to major television networks across North America. Girl Talk is no longer about women gossiping against each other or putting one down. Girl Talk is now listening and honoring each other's stories and uplifting one another with the power of encouragement.
Through World Pulse, this kind of Girl Talk happens! Every woman can write her story, speak her truth, envision new ideas, and share her dreams. With its Encourager Program, World Pulse ensures that women's voices are heard. Becoming part of the Encourager Program is as simple as signing up on World Pulse, searching for stories to read, and leaving an encouraging comment. When a new World Pulse member leaves 10 comments in a month, she is awarded an Encourager Badge. When she goes above and beyond in giving encouragement to World Pulse storytellers, she will be celebrated as a Featured Encourager.
Part of this special event is acknowledging the commitment of 24 World Pulse Featured Encouragers who showed up amidst the setbacks of the pandemic to help women feel seen, heard, and valued.
The highlight of the hour was listening to the messages given by the World Pulse power duo, Olutoson of Nigeria and Urmila Chanam of India; two global changemakers whose deep friendship was formed inside the World Pulse platform.
Olutosin shared about her life as a survivor of domestic violence and how her voice is being celebrated when she shared her stories on World Pulse. By typing with just one finger, she posted her stories. She healed by receiving words with encouragement. Because of World Pulse, she becomes a new woman. Now she is creating an impact in her communities, \"resurrecting lives and building legacies\". Urmila Chaman shared that women can best friends with each other and that women rise to leadership with the power of encouragement.
After listening to two powerful speeches by these World Pulse trailblazers, I shared three tips on encouragement: practice empathy, give special love to first story from new authors, and encourage from the heart.
Then the party began! Altogether, we all log on to World Pulse to read stories and leave encouragement. After the time was up, we all come back together and share which stories resonate with us in break-out sessions.
It is a wonderful experience to be in a space where women listen to each other and honor each other's journey. Just like every Encourager Party, this one-hour event flew fast! What a magnificent way to celebrate International Women's Day. This is a dawn of a new beginning. As more women discover that her voice matters and that her story is celebrated, they will rise up to share new solutions that heal this world. This is how #HerStoryMakesHistory.
Happy International Women's Day!
