World Pulse Digital Ambassadors Close the Digital Divide

This International Women's Day, World Pulse Digital Ambassadors from all over the world are coming together to close the digital divide.

The Digital Ambassador Program is an advanced leadership opportunity for active and engaged World Pulse members who aspire to unleash women’s voices globally. Ahead of International Women's Day, and throughout March, Ambassadors will host events using the World Pulse Trainathon curriculum. The curriculum is designed to empower World Pulse members to bring digital tools to more women and girls globally and to grow membership to our safe, supportive community.

The theme for International Women’s Day, 8 March 2023 (IWD 2023) is “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.” The theme ties into the priority theme for the upcoming 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW-67), “Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”

What are Trainathon Events?

Facilitated by World Pulse Digital Ambassadors, Trainathon events will bring groups of women and girls together to take a World Pulse training on any or all of our current offerings: Basic and Advanced Digital Skills, Safety and Security, Social Entrepreneurship, Digital Storytelling, and Online Advocacy.

Participants will watch videos and take the lessons live, and will have the opportunity to finish their assignments over a month to obtain certificates of completion.

Here are just a few examples of the incredible Trainathon events Digital Ambassadors have planned:

In Nigeria, Jefiter and Grace Ilya hosted an event on Feb 17 to bring digital skills trainings to women globally. Regina Young will host three events in Cameroon focused on digital skills and storytelling. Grace Adams will host an event online based on storytelling and advocacy. And Lisbeth Salifu, Chinyere Kalu, and Keturah Shammah will host online events around storytelling, safety and security, and basic digital skills.

As these events take place, the World Pulse community will be here to meet new members who sign up. Be sure to give a warm welcome to new members who join us.
