Working for migrant women in Europe

On this Women's Day 2012, I work as an intern for a Research Centre on Reproductive Health. I'm handling a project on the Sexual and Reproductive Health of all migrant women to the European Union, trying to see how we can provide them with a better access to health care.

Above my desk, there are two quotes from migrant women:

'Sexual health is dead in my body', from a Kurdish asylum seeker

'I had no money and no papers, so the only option I had was to become his slave', from a Russian refugee.

I see them all day long while I work and it reminds me of how harsh migration can be hard for these women. All my thoughts go to them on this Women's Day 2012.

And in French, Women's Day is called Women's Rights' Day, and I think it is best to show the world that it is not just about offering roses to your wife. It is about fighting for equality for all women around this planet!

Best wishes to you all, women and men, and Happy Women's Day!!!
