Women should be vigilant about their health

There are increasing cases in our community where women discover that they are HIV positive when they get tested during their pregnancy. Some women just trust their spouses to the extent that they get married without going for HIV testing and counseling.
This overlook of such an important aspect of marriage has resulted in many fatalities involving innocent women. Even when they know their status and are on treatment, some men remain silent about their status and continue to infect and re-infect their spouses.
One of the women in our community learned about the importance of testing and counseling before marriage in a hard way.
She got married to a man who was HIV positive. The man did not reveal his status. After two years in the marriage and having lost two children, the woman went for testing and was told that she was positive. She was left dump founded when she heard the news.
Tears stream down her face whenever she remembers how faithful she was to her husband. The situation is made worse by the fact that the husband knew about his status but kept quiet about it.
