Women raped, women lost!

Breath. In. Out.
This week has been heavy. Too many women victims of tragedies outside of their control around me.
I start this week with a lyrical explosion.

“Silent cries, locked inside, constantly afraid
Watch demon eyes, spread their lies, making me a prey
They don't know where I come from
They don't see this flame has grown
And I've seen oppressor's way to control our fate
So I'm standing here ablaze
Gonna.... take my space” (Lyrics by Montreal-based hip hop ensemble, Nomadic Massive)

I learned, from chatting with one of my girlfriends over the weekend, that one of our mutual friends was raped...by a man we all know and found to be an all-around nice guy. I can't comprehend how he didn't understand that no means no. I'm so disgusted to think that we all once trusted him and that he's walking a free man after this violent act. How do we prevent him from hurting another? Feel so helpless!

I also learned this week that a friend and colleague in Mali lost his granddaughter in a senseless road accident. His daughter was also in that car and is in a coma...hanging to life by a tread. I can't even imagine her pain if she wakes up from her coma to learn that her innocent baby girl passed away. This friend also recently lost his mother.

Please send positive vibes out to a strong woman who needs to find justice and stop her abuser from hurting another strong woman.

Please send positive vibes to a son and grandfather who needs to cope with the loss of important women in his life. Please send positive vibes for his daughter.

Peace.
