Women - Front runners of change

first-story
Women and men are the most important part of human race. From times immemorial, in various civilizations, men have most often dominated the female race and our society at large, accepts the male superiority at all times to come. In spite of men leading in all walks of life, women are not left behind and in modern times, they stand on par with each other and make things for them. In this regard, we bring to light and discuss on parameters that some women have braved to bring to the fore in conservative societies. We are all part of educated and cultured backgrounds, yet when it comes to issues like gender equalities and freedom of women, there is still a strong stigma attached which will hardly fade away.
Women against gender biases
From childhood, girls are protected by their fathers and when they turn adults, they are taken care of by their husbands. This system of protection creates an innate framework for the woman seeking help at all times in her life. Whenever she tries to be independent, she is mocked down by her own family and then the society around her. She is constantly told that she needs to walk on her father’s footsteps and obey her husband’s words because they are her ultimate well wishers and know what’s good for her and what’s not. Sons are allowed to venture out and party hard, but when it comes to the female child, the thinking is different.
Even in a male dominated society and culture, we can find women who brought in change. They created change in the way people saw stereotypes. They changed the way people think about women in modern times. The society has progressed so far in terms of science and technology, yet the important heads of the countries are yet to materialize on serious issues like women empowerment. Women and social harassment
Working women almost every day find themselves in a soup, by men who either pass non-appropriate comments against them or by other men who take the liberty to talk of women and their dressing sense in the public etc. The male bastions of the society most often forget that they are also a part of the community; they are also part of families that have women in them.
Men are slowly rising up to situations where women are leading a change in society. We see women entrepreneurs, women scientists, women holding top positions in bureaucracy, etc. Women are not doing this in retaliation against a challenge posed by the men community. Women had strength and power in them right from the ancient days. Yet, the channels to express their powers are springing up more in the recent times and hence we see lots of female voices speaking against gender biases. They do not take it anymore, at least in cities, the situation is slowly changing.
Women and the burden of families.
Women get freedom when they feel a sense of support right from their families. The situation is not the same across different parts of the world. A large part of women are still shy when it comes to raising their voices for their freedom and self development. Families don’t provide the necessary encouragement to their female members at home to spread their wings and fly with their creative instincts. Instead they are bogged down by responsibilities such as taking care of the home, children, aged parents, in laws, etc.
Career is an important part of modern woman. It makes her independence. It gives her financial stability. It gives her a reason to stand on her own. She builds confidence to take on the world in her bold approach. Women have progressed from the conservative society to a much aware livelihood, most probably because today’s woman is educated. She realizes the need to support her life on her terms. Today’s woman is multi-tasking, donning multiple roles and playing vital support systems at home. She manages all the chores at home, takes care of her husband’s schedules, and is there to support her in laws. Cares for her children.
Leading change from within.
Change is possible only when women wish to lead that change. The society will always view women as being helpless and in constant need of protection, no matter how successful the woman may be in her life. The society progressed from a traditional mindset owned, narrow mindset inculcated structure to an open minded, broad sensed civilization. We are currently part of this type of society. Yet, the larger part of the structure is still not able to come to terms and accept modernity, related to womanhood. So, ultimately it is up to women to choose the kind of life they want to lead. They can either lock themselves up in a shell and live a life full of ignorance or come up and speak for one.
The major part of the society that we are a part of, still asks us to be the restricted woman and not let our wings fly in different directions. We should decide to let these things behind. We should openly accept change. We should widen our approach and accept a suitable life for us. We have to build our own destinies. Hardships are part of the journey; we should be good enough in choosing the right opportunities and identifying untapped talents that would make us a great woman some day.
Speaking for one’s own rights.
Every nation notifies rights for both men and women. In general, they appear to be the same, yet practically, they are implemented in different ways. We see women being at the top and senior most positions of some highly coveted jobs and taking charge of men and women equally under them. Women players in politics have created a sensation worldwide and hold the zenith of powers and celebrate their achievement.
These true achievements of women were possible, not because somebody tailor-made it for them. But it’s because they chose to walk different paths in their lives. They decided to step upon the most difficult routes in the world. They faced numerous difficulties. They were called off by the society. At times, they were left with no-one, but themselves to support them. In times of need, all that they did was to retrospect, identify mistakes and keep the spirit going. These kinds of women have made it possible to achieve their dreams on their own. They have created change in the society. Their stories are an inspiration. Their determination is something to die for. Every woman should have another woman as a role model in her life and take courage to lead the change by imbibing good qualities and values from her.
