Women are the Power for Change

• What most excites you about Web 2.0? Well, it seems I’ve been using aspects of Web 2.0 for some time, sweetly oblivious to the moniker. Its potential for good is what excites me the most, through the sharing of vital information & inspiring stories & that such messages can reach thousands around the world in an instant. I’m also excited about the possibility of learning new skills, such as editing & posting videos & participating in interactive news sites.
• What solutions you think Web 2.0 brings to the global women's empowerment movement; I’m not sure I understand this question. Solutions to a movement? How will it facilitate, support, expedite & magnify the movement, rather than solve it – through connection & communication & inspiration, through its viral transmission, through the knowledge that we are not alone, not without a voice or without power. That we are the movement, we are the Earth.
• How are, or can, these tools be empowering for you? So far, they have been empowering for me in a number of ways: search engines & wikis essentially feed my search for knowledge of a topic or phenomenon, especially something I want to write about & understand from many angles. The other side of this is the ability to disseminate such knowledge by posting on Facebook or my own weblog. Accessing the videos & the voices of the likes of Vandana Shiva, Eve Ensler, Naomi Klein, Ellen Laconte, Carolyn Raffensperger, Annie Leonard, Winona La Duke et al give me hope & the strength to continue against overwhelming odds to speak up for the Earth.
Posting my articles on my own weblog gives me a vehicle or platform for all of my published work, which brings a sense of satisfaction, whereas exchanging ideas with others in a forum or community takes it to another level of expanding possibilities for any or all of those involved, ricocheting into the unknown.
