I still recall the day we ran a test to see how well-informed the youth were on politics. We have made contact with students from reputed colleges in Ahmedabad. As a journalist, I asked straightforward queries like who Gujarat's education minister is. Fewer than two people can name the Gujarat’s Home Minister, among other questions. When we say that young people are not really interested in politics. People interpret it differently. Argue that because politics is rife with corruption, goons, and influence, talented young people do not choose that. I concur that a deserving person is not given the opportunity.
However, this is not the place to discuss the chance. If young people are actively participating in passive politics and showing interest in government programmes, policies, and lectures. We hardly know the people for whom we cast our ballots personally, and we hardly pay attention to their activities during their term. Nine innocent young people lost their lives in a collision on Ahmedabad's Iskcon Road recently, all because some young people from wealthy families were enjoying reckless driving. On social media, numerous users have submitted videos and remarked that harsh measures should be done. then our obligation is done. Is there even one Amadavadi out of the 70–80 lakhs who has submitted a letter to the Home Minister?
Who has pushed for our fellow citizens' justice. Has anyone looked into the corruption that his father is being accused of rape while leading a lavish lifestyle? What makes it possible? Has anyone inquired about the state of the CCTV cameras or the activities of the dumper? No one brings up the subject of the rickshaw, which smokes like anything, and neither the cops nor a CCTV camera records it. There are several tempos that are heavy with scrap, and some of the scrap may fall on nearby drivers if air passes over them. But neither a camera nor a police officer paid it any attention.
This attitude always makes our lives difficult since we don't give a damn and don't take a few minutes to write to concerned ministries. Now, the parents of those children who died in accidents will struggle by themselves. In the future, someone else would have similar problems, leaving his family to struggle on their own. In this circumstance, we will all fail. When we say that young people don't care about politics, we mean that you should be aware of every circumstance and act as a responsible citizen. A leader who is unavailable to you is not one you should follow. I believe the country will move in the right manner when youth take up their responsibilities as citizens.
