Widows Programme at Alpha Support Development Program

On this day we held a meeting with area widows focusing on their rights of inheritance and issues of pertaining CHV services on health issues.

just to mention a few....

1. Majority of widows claimed that they lack probonal lawyers who can support them in the proceedings of their land rights.
2. Language - It was evident that there was an issue with communication hence we decided to come up with English lessons to educate widows on English Language.
3. Executive Director's visit: we shared about the director's visit in Nairobi which was very exciting to see what fellow colleagues were doing in their organization. e.g. Kibera Lindi women empowerment of which our widows felt they should invite one or two to train them.
4. We also shared about the Machakos uptake of civic education empowerment. This is to enable them to have dialogue meetings/forum about the government and their leaders.
5. We came up with inovation to reduce gender based violence by involving men champions to ensure that they support the fight against gender based violence on women and girls.
6. The men were excited to be part and parcel of reducing the violence on women and girls in general. The government officials encouraged men to support their women in undertaking issues to do with health and advocate any issues against women and girls.
