Why Speak out .

\"Life
Life threatening Domestic Violence

Women who find themselves in violent relationship should speak out.

Recently, I had a joint counseling session with a couple who fight often and the women had a fractured hand that needed a plaster. Because the call to me was initiated by the health care provider, who felt that the survivor needed external help.

The husband felt so bad that a third party is now aware of the frequent fight they normally have. He had always ask the women to tell people lies even when she had bruises.  At the end of the session I made the man to sign an undertaking never to raise his hand at the wife again. The Survivor became so relieved. According to her, beating her was almost becoming a daily affair but now that she spoke out, with the fear of being arrested, the man will stop the beating.

So speak out when in a violent relationship.
