I have always had a knack for writing although I never had any formal training,I guess its as a result of reading so many books as a young child and by my teen years I started looking beyond the fictional books,I started becoming interested in real stories,I would ask people whose life's seemed interesting or even different from mine about their experiences .I never passed an oppurtunity to network with people just so I can hear their stories.
As became a woman and an advocate I had come along way,I had become more aware of the realities of our society and I decided that listening to stories wasnt enough,I needed to shar this stories because I realised that these stories had shaped my understanding of people,I have come to learn so much about life,I have learnt to be more tolerant and approach life with less judgment.
In 20I6 I started my magazine and immediately I used that one skill of mune to make impact.I used stories to bring awareness to the world,I used stories to inspire people to take action and make their lives or others better. Now as I look at my stories I realise the one that I most passionately share is that of women empowerment especially that of gender based voilence. I have come to realise that we do not talk about abuse as much,we do not tell the story of the person who survived this ordeal from their perscpective.I once heard a story of a 14 year old girl who poisoned her forty something year old husband and was impriesoned ,I had nighmares about this because I kept on wondering what her story was,I wish I had access to her to ask why she felt killing the man was her only option.Wouldn't you as a person like to know her story?
So many things happens to us as we go through life, changes both good and bad affects our view or our actions that's we always need to remember that everyone's story is different. I have now become a certified Nuero linguistic Program practiotioner and coach,I interact with people from a more professional angle, but essentially it started because I needed to understand the way we as humans think and act, also find the out best way to influence people's lives better and bring the change we need.
Lets encourage people to share their stories so that we can gain more understanding of what is happening in their lives, lets give Survivors a voice to talk, to heal, to connect and also inspire others who are stuck in a similar predicament . Story telling in my experience is one of the best tools we can use to bridge the gap, to connect and remind ourselves that we are humans first and best way to achieve the change we desire.
