Why I joined this group

All children around the world deserve a good education and quality of life but unapologetically my heart tugs at girls and issues that face them.

May be it's because of the little girl in me.

May be it's because I'm raising girls, my daughters.

Maybe it's because I hear heart breaking girls stories and often wonder of what remains unspoken.

May be it's because even in 2016, in some corners of the world....

Girls are being selectively eliminated before they are even born

Girls more than boys are likely to be left behind in education, sacrificing for their brothers

Girls more than boys are being violated with no recourse

Girls more than boys are faced with the unintended consequences of female genital mutilation

Girls more than boys are being forced into marriage at an early age

Girls more than boys experience teenage pregnancy

Girls more than boys have no say over their bodies not to talk of their lives and engage in prostitution.

Girls more than boys may not be able to go to school due to something as simple as their period.

The list is long and seems endless and I can go on but the idea is to figure out solutions.

I joined this group to be a part of this conversation, to share and to learn, to find solutions and collaborate, to join a group that will make a difference and change this narrative.

It is such a privilege to be a part of a group of change makers.
