Where the grass is greener...

So I walk into a photo studio to make my son's birthday worthwhile by taking some really cool pictures. We complete a photo session and as my hubby tries to keep our boy cheerful for an exciting day ahead, I'm seating at the reception waiting for the picture print-outs. Suddenly, my attention is drawn to the fact that for every 10 person at the counter, there are 8 who are there for one sole purpose; to take a passport photography for their visa. Now for every 5 persons collecting, 4 of them have passport specification to where?.... Canada. The recent soft peddled immigration laws by the Canadian government, has left nothing less than 300 people everyday in a year who migrate from their country to the land with greener pastures. In the midst of this, Nigeria has been seen to take centre stage in this migration scheme even though we are not in a war zone. The reason is this; the economy is daily giving citizens reason to worry for their future and the future of their children. Everyday, people are faced with new changes from inflation, to high standard of living which has brought an end to the middle class, more and more issues of terrorism from the northern region which is slowly going down the map and the greatest of all... Corruption of the government.  Truth is, why should people be running away from their own country and heritage? It can only be one thing, the government has failed the masses, religious and tribal sentiments has beclouded true sense of judgement when it concerns leadership. Nigerian youths need to believe in their nation again. How can the future of the nation desire to go build the future of another nation? From assessment, Canadian government is well prepared to have valuable people come from all parts of the world to build their economy. This is a country with a vision. The Nigerian people need to believe in Nigeria again. The economic meltdown Nigeria experienced over a year ago, was a wake up call to so many other ignored sectors in the society. The Nigerian education cannot be ranked any where in the world and adding to that, the certificate is rated insignificant once a person leaves the country. There a need to change this anomaly if the youths are to be taken seriously beyond the Nigerian shores.  They say hope springs when your not looking. I honestly hope that one day Nigeria like Canada will be a nation other immigrants will hunger to come to. Nigeria, \"the giant of Africa\" must out live the expectation for future generations. Better economy through agribusiness, digital technology, entrepreneurship, empowering youths and women, better education and blue economy are only but a few of the things that will restore Nigerian economy to its rightful place in the global economic ranking.
