Where books may lead us

Books can lead to all kinds of interesting experiences! Someone on this list recommended \"Half of a Yellow Sun,\" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I was reading it in a hospital waiting room the other day and there just happened to be a priest talking with another family there. He was from Nigeria. I caught up with him before he left the room and asked him to tell me how to pronounce some of the names and words in the book. The author, it turned out, was a favorite of his and he shared some history of the troubles in Nigeria during the 60's.

After we talked awhile, Father asked me why I was reading this book and how did I know about it. I told him about our book club here on World Pulse and that I very much liked reading authors from countries other than my own, to learn more about the world.

So read in public--never know where it will lead! And by the way, the book is terrific.
