When History is Being Told

Sometimes ago. someone asked me a question.

He asked me 'what strengthens you? What pushes you?

What inspires you to do the things you do?

I recall my awakening in understanding that men failed to inspire me because they inherently carry the bias that continues to overlook and undermine me as a woman.

And the women in my life fell short of inspiring me, because they are caught up in the web of patriarchy, deep enough for them to not understand that they have become custodians of the very system that diminishes their existence.

I gave him an answer, which was neither straight, nor vague. It is an answer that stems from understanding the inner struggle that everyone experiences in their quest to find balance in an unbalanced world.

I told him, that I learnt to look within, and find my strength. For in looking deep within myself, I realized that to find the strength I seek, I needed to look without, break open the box that I have been used to and step out of it if I indeed intend to find the tribe that speaks the language that speaks to my soul.

The language of love, the language of unity, the language of oneness, the language of equity, the language of equality and the language of togetherness. The language of UBUNTU

I almost gave up on my search before I found them. On the internet, I found many women; and some men who understand me whether I speak or not. People of all races who understand the concept of UBUNTU. Above them all, are the incredible women on World Pulse.

I still find it incredible how world pulse achieved this great feat of pulling women whose hearts beat together from all over the world, on one single platform with whom I am confident that together, we can change the narrative that have existed for centuries.

Together, we can create a new world, a better world, an unbiased world. A world free of prejudice, free of

On world pulse, I not only found my tribe, but I found my VOICE; which for now is all I have.

And it is the tool I am using to say that we are the generation that are breaking the bias.

I promise that 'when history is being told, never will it be said that I did nothing'
