What makes a home a HOME?

For so long I've asked myself "What is a Home?" "What makes a home a Home?" And after a long journey of searching for the amswers and understanding each one, here's what i found.

A house is where you sleep. A Home is where you don't have to perform.

What makes a home a Home, it's not the walls, it's not the roof, it's not the address on your ID. It's four things:

1. Safety to be unedited. You can come back tired, broke, weird, quite - and you don't have to explain yourself. It's you unmasked.

2. That you matter there. In the world you are one of 8 billion. At Home, if you don't come back someone notices. The space is for you, and waiting for you not just occupied by you.

3. People or a memory of people. The laughter, the giggles, the running around of your little angels, their smiles. Even if you live alone, Home holds the voices of people who made you feel seen. Photos, a scent from the kitchen, that blanket your mom gave you. It's all Love made into a place.

4. The small rituals. Someone knowing how you like your tea without asking, the "mommy is home" excitement screams. The slow Sunday music when you clean. Home is built from 100 tiny repetitions, not one big moment.

That's What Makes a home a Home. There is more to it. And i have come to believe that if you wanna build a Home, you start building it in yourself first. Thus, be the person who makes a room calmer when you enter. Clean your space, keep your promises to yourself, light a candle even if no on else is coming. You can not offer a Home to someone if you are t war within yourself.

Home is a feeling you carry. The scent of peace, you can smell when a Home is at peace. There's no tension in the air, that's, clean sheets, maybe a little vanilla, no shouting residue, no cold shoulders.
