Web 2.0 the way i see it!

In the wake of the internet and such like phenomenon the world has grown smaller and become one global community. Where a girl in the most remote parts of the ancestral village I hail from, Nyakach, can interact with a girl in Kosovo experiencing the struggles of living in a country in the 21st century that is seeking to be recognized as an independent state . Although these two may speak different languages, not share the same cultures, all these differences are abandoned when they engage in Web 2.0 sites. In that there main concern is to share and learn from each others experiences. This is what most excites me about Web 2.0 it gives every one an opportunity to express themselves no matter who and where they are from.

Web 2.0 gives an opportunity for women to express their ideas where ordinarily they may not have the opportunity to do so. Women through Web 2.0 are able to have their experiences and ideas publish to large web based audience and in expressing this they are in not in any way restricted to conform to what society may or may not want them to say. They have full control over what information they choose to share and how they do this thereby enabling them to share and learn from each other stories without having to hide anything.

Web 2.0 and social media enables me to be update with what is currently going on in the world, particularly what interests me are the human rights stories. Further it enables me to correspond with other youths involved in activities geared towards social changes. Through this interaction I am able to pick ideas that are able to implement within my own local community. Further through social media networks I’m able to sensitize others around me who may are not be actively involved in social development programs within the community, once they realize the importance of their participation some have joined the movement for change and actively contribute in spreading the social change message. .
