Web 2.0 and the global world

I am so passionate about Web 2.0 because it’s brings out the real me i.e Interacting and collaborating with likeminded people online through social media tools. Editing and uploading of audio and video clips addressing human rights issues on sites like Youtube. Sharing of information on sites like face book and twitter unlike a website which is passive- you only read the information provided.

Web 2.0 has helped a lot in promoting and protecting women’s rights and empowerment by helping to build a society where women’s issues all over the world are shared and discussed, women are encouraged to speak out and fights for their rights. For me, among other things, being able to speak out is an empowerment on its own

By virtue of my work as an assistant ICT Officer (in BAOBAB for Women’s Human Rights), I know that after editing both audio and video clips that talks about women’s rights and empowerment., there are people, mostly women out there that this work will touch their lives positively.
