Web 2.0 the platform for new media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google maps, and other interactive news sites, is an exciting tool as it enables me to have the world in my hands.
As a journalist my job demands that I have information on what is happening globally on my finger tips and with web 2.0 I interact with the people from all over the globe.
The moment something happens I get it like I´m just a minute away from the scene.
Without web 2.0 it will be impossible to be kept abreast with the rest of the world.
While I may not know everything about something but with Web 2.0 I know something about everything, which is the most exciting thing about this new media.
While traditional media may be unable to bring out some issues affecting women and express them in the best way possible, social media allows the affected to reach out for help to others in their own expression.
While most women globally suffer in isolation, web 2.0 has helped many to speak-up and get empowerment through sharing experiences with others that have had similar circumstances.
A lot of women share the same pain, bear the same burden and if one leads the way of breaking the silence via web 2.0 its easier for more others to share the experiences and even reach out to those that don't have courage to so.
Web 2.0 has helped women realise their potential by way of interaction with other women that are successful in life despite their challenges.
For some women, once abused they feel the world has closed its door on them and through social interaction many women have risen above their challenges.
As a journalist my job demands that I report news and news means something new that no one has ever read or heard before and creativity is my number one priority.
With web 2.0, I get new ideas everyday through interaction with people around the globe and that makes my job as a journalist much easier.
