February sees the most sunshine in Nairobi, with about ten hours of daylight.       Although Nairobi is situated in the middle of East Africa, its high altitude—about a mile above sea level—means that the city's climate is mild year-round. Visitors are spared the extreme, blistering temperature found in other regions of Africa, or even Kenya. Summer months in Nairobi are December through March, when average highs are in the upper 70s and lows are in the mid- to upper-50s.

Re: Masai Mara weather, from link at: http://karenblixencamp.com/seasons

It is impossible to forecast the weather in the Masai Mara and one should never believe in any guide book talking of dry seasons and rainy seasons. Drought as well as rain can happen any time of the year. Yet there are some general patterns which are described below

The hottest months tend to be October, January and February
December to January
The savannah is green and lots of new born gazelles make an easy prey for the big cats.
February to April
The savannah is drying up and thousands of wildebeests are born daily in the month of February. It is a favored period of the big cats.

On average, the hottest months of the year are February and March, during which time the daily high temperatures will generally hover in the mid to upper 80’s, with temperatures frequently reaching the 90’s.  The nighttime temperatures during these months will generally drop to the mid to lower 60’s.

Re: Lake Kivu weather (for gorilla trekkers!)

Daytime temperatures may hover in the mid 70's, and night time in the 60's. Be prepared for rain, too!
