Where to Begin. WRITE your moment of insight. That moment when you knew something had to give, and for once, it wouldn’t be you! Find closure. Break the Silence. Help Others Recognize the Signs. We'll print your story in an anthology to be published in January to promote 1 Billion Rising 2014. What's that? On 14 February 2013, one billion people in 207 countries rose and danced to demand an end to violence against women and girls. It's going to happen again, & again & again.

WRITING is one way to make sense of our experience & turn pain into art. Your moment of insight matters. It matters to you & it matters to other women who don’t yet believe they can get out. When you hone that moment of clarity into a 1-2 page story, when you refine your understanding of how you got you out, it’s like polishing a gem. It strengthens your resolve, your sense of certainty, your very identity.

Please print the attached Call for Submissions and post it in your local domestic violence center, your health food store, the women's health clinic. You'd be surprised how many of us are out there, living silent lives of incomplete experience. Share how you got out that others need not suffer what you did!
