We must change the Educational Narrative of Nigeria.

What exactly is the future of formal education in Nigeria? With over 8million out of school children (highest in the world) and the spontaneous degradation in our academic structures and competence? what measures have we put in place to stimulate interest in learning? How sustainable are these measures? How have the measures been working?

In the year 2015 The Federal Government launched a school feeding program that was aimed at improving the health of school age children, increase their enrollment, retention and completion rate.  To achieve these goals we cannot focus only on feeding their appetite, we should also put sustainable measures in place to also feed their minds. Usable learning materials, conducive learning environments and qualified teachers should be equally provided!

Above all, public inclusion must be encouraged. The general public must be involved, individuals must prioritise formal education and do our parts to encourage and support at least a child in school as well as donate study materials especially to hotspot and marginalised communities.

Although the statistics is large but a child at a time will reduce the number of out of school children and in no time we can attain reasonable progress in educating the nation.

All children, no matter where they live or what their circumstances, have the right to Quality Education.
