We Matter. Our Health Matter

My current platform shoot

As a young girl of 14, I started my journey as an activist working with genocide survivors. I did a lot of youth leadership work, teaching about public speaking and advocating for social justice. However, I discovered that I wanted to focus specifically on women's empowerment, gender rights advocacy, and justice.

I joined a menstrual rights organization called iMatter, where I began to challenge my own stigma and that of others. I learned that everything surrounding a woman's health is not given enough attention, particularly menstrual care and hygiene, which is a problem for many women, especially those living in rural areas.

As I grew older and learned more about my body, I became saddened by the fact that for many years, I had believed it was okay to have severe period cramps that would prevent me from working or studying. I also realized that my menstrual cycle heavily influenced my mood, feelings, and energy levels.
