We are unstoppable

March 2022! I am delighted that we have kept the legacy. Looking around me, I realize how brave we are and how far we are willing to go to amplify our voices. The struggle for women's rights is gaining momentum.

I am curious to go back in time and have an interview with brave women of ancient times known for their hard works and their personal voices against systems that interiorize women, to collect their opinions on women's rights. But I think that their conviction on Equal Rights would not differ from mine: we still have a long way to go but step by step we are there!

In 2016 I was at Langata stop in Kenya with a group of selfish men waiting for transportation to Town. They were also waiting for buss from the same destination as me. We had a provocative little exchange. A man of imposing height talked to me with a contemptuous look, asking what I was doing at the station where transportation was very difficult to reach. Very confident, I leaned towards the giant and replied that I was waiting for a Matatu (Buss) to take me in town. The gentleman answered me: “Miss I am also waiting for transport to go to town, you know very well that at such a moment transport is difficult to reach. And you are a woman unfortunately you will not be able to rush into a full buss. Another selfish man who was next to me also replied ironically supporting his friend: normally women shouldn't take public transportation at these hours; they should stay at home and wait the traffic to go down.

While the selfish gentleman had just placed the last vowel on his sentence, we saw a filled Matatu (Buss) stopped ho wanted to drop off a client. We all rushed to enter the bus, another group of egoists inside prevented me from entering saying that the bus was full, I fumbled inside the buss and squeezed in front. The conveyor refused access while I was already inside and the driver was already driving…J

Anyway, we know that there has never been a space provided and attributed to women in this World; we are used to squeeze and create our own space. We are used to providing double efforts to demonstrate that we are capable.

The biological condition could not prevent Carri Chapman Catt and suffragists women from obtaining the19th constitution amendment which gives women the rights of votes at national level.

The vagina, breasts, and soft voice did not prevent Simeone de Beauvoir from exploring other ways of conceiving the relationship between men and women.

Losing blood monthly was not a convincing alibi to slow down Chimpa nvita, Queen Amina of Zaria, Queen Moremi of Ile-Ife, Makeda, Queen of Sheba, Helen Jonshson and other female politicians to lead empires and great African States.

Unfortunately you are a woman…” this drift no longer has any effect on us and can in no way prevent us to get the moon. Especially at this time where Mark Zoukeberg of Facebook & watsap, Lary Page of Google, bizz stong of tweeter, did not foresee discriminatory policies against women. Even more at this time of Worlpulse, Big communities that amplify women voices on an international scale.

Questioning our femininity, downplaying our efforts, discouragement… we are ready to pay the price and take the risk for woman to be treated equally.

It is difficult to believe in gender equality between men and women, especially in this period when all of humanity is witnessing the degradation of feminine strength following several contexts: covid-19, political unrests; but it is possible to get there.

The greatest satisfaction that I have is to see that even in this strong patriarchal system, we manage to engrave our fingerprints and squeeze a space. Women's awareness, entrepreneurship training, inclusive leadership, lobbying, advocacy, economic empowerment, etc. is exactly what I mean!

We are women and very proud of our membership, making our voices heard is the choice we have made and the only alternative we will continue asking for equal rights. For us, every day we celebrate the courage of women.

The heroic deeds centuries women ago will continue to live on in our hearts. The new generation that we are, will read their stories and find the inspiration to be great. There are several women who are already doing well: 50 world pulse rising voices and all my Worlpulse sisters around the World who inspire us through their experience.

We are capable and nothing can stop us!
