I am organising a training workshop in my community to end period poverty. This workshop will be about teaching girls how to make and care for reusable sanitary pads, educative talks on how to maintain hygiene during periods and also donate sanitary pads to girls.
Given that the price of sanitary pads is on the rise and most girls can't afford it, my association Dr Tumasang Swiri Foundation and Kids for Kids Cameroon, decided to look for more sustainable ways of taking care of menstruation through the fabrication of sanitary pads.
We also call on well-wishers to donate sanitary pads to support the initiative as every girl deserves a pad. This will end frustration and also contribute to better health and life conditions of the young girl.
The initiative will hold in a rural area (Etetak) in the centre region of Cameroon and it is targeting 100 girls. It will move to other communities subsequently
