story
I live in the place where the literacy rate is very low and internet for women is still alien. My work is also with the illeterate women but they have courage to teach the world through their struggle for justice. I slowly started entering into the social networking place. In the beginning i didnt care much about the technology and never bothered to learn much. The reason could be many of our women may not read and connect themselves. Some of my friends encouraged me to write to the open forums for the support. I started writing and many people are interested in my writings and the struggle of Telangana, the role of women, oppressed, marginalised communities in it. But i use to have lot of problems in posting my articles, i always ask friends to help me. I still cant upload many things, like videos, photos, news clippings etc. I also believe that writing skills are very important, that too in english. This is the only language connects people across the world. Since its not my mother tongue, i feel, i cant express as much as i feel. I am still struggling to write and look for correct words.
Challenges are fear and inhibitions to adopt new technology but at the same time have enthusiasm to learn. Ways and means to connect to my work through internet, do not know much where to start and end. How to search for like minded people and forum, lack of knowledge in searching. Over the period, i have learnt one thing that 'Where there is a will, there is way', if we really want to learn something, we search and we get it one day. Even with small efforts, we can learn many things, thats, how i am here today.
When i saw the World pulse, web 2.0, that too for women, i felt like, i got some support. I thought , this is the place for me to learn, connect to the bigger world with new technology. I am already learning things, each activity is very encouraging, some how, i am not hesitating. Usually, i take so much of time to write something but here i am really feeling comfortable. May be its the feeling of being together, that too in the women forum. I wish, all my dreams will be fulfilled with the course, if am selected for this year. All the local struggles, unheard stories will be documented and connected through the world. There will be exchange of ideas and forums for strength.
