Three women journey across continents and cultures

Across Many Mountains: Three Daughters of Tibet - Yangzom Brauen, (Translated by Katy Derbyshire; Harvill Secker, 328 pages) - An honest, moving narrative of the socio-political realities of Tibet through the lives of a trio of Tibetan women across generations. The book is intriguing for its personalized account of history by actor Yangzom Brauen, of Tibetan and Swiss parentage, who was raised primarily in Berne and Zurich and lives in Los Angeles, California currently. The tales of her maternal grandma and mum inpsire her to make trips to Tibet and also organize protests and other actions to focus attention on how China continues to deny peace and justice to the land.
