This man refused to inherit a wife

Hello all;

I craved addmiration for this guy. He'd not been to school and is not a young man. he is 47 years old and lives in a modest village around the western region of Cameroon where in some particularl cases, wives are still called upon to mary their husband's relative after his death.

This man's brother died two weeks ago and was burried. Three days ago, a family meeting was helt as to decide of his wife's fate. At the end of the meeting he was chosen as the one to take over the administration of his brothers wealth as well as his wife and children. The man alive had worked hard and owned some land and some houses around. the fear was that if the woman marries another man, this wealth could be squandered.

i learnt this man was chosen by the family to take over his brother's wife because according to the family; he was a failure and the only person who had not achieved anything in life. He'd been married several times and his wives kept on escapinf and this was an opportunity to give him a wife; some money and a life.

Everyone was sure the woman would have rejected the offer. it was amazing the man decided to have a conversation with the widow; after which he conscented not to married her. He's been there to defend the woman against any trouble she could face from the family. Right now; he's left his brother's house back to the village where he lives in his little home.

This was a situation which kept me voiceless. The actions of this man was great and the widow is having some peace in her husband's house with her children. Its a pleasure the Cameroonian government does not recognise dowry and is bent on protecting widows.
