There's No Security without Inclusive Peacebuilding

Last Friday was the end of 2 weeks of feminist funding learning - supported by the Pacific Island Feminist Alliance for Climate Justice, interactive programme planning for Shifting the Power Coalition and the inception workshop for the Pacific Women’s Mediators Network in collaboration with Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC) #Pacific.

This was an amazing foundational two days of focused commitment and strategizing with a group Pacific Island women leaders who brought their expertise to the table drawing on the legacy of more than 3 decades of work and Pacific Island activism and yes - the unfinished business of the #Pacific #RegionalActionPlan on #wps .

The Technical Working Group meeting culminated with a foundational plan for institutionalising participation of #womenpeacebuilders in the #Pacific action across #HDPNexus for #sustainablepeace.

Because while the Blue Pacific Strategy to 2050 adopted by Pacific Forum Leaders has a peace and security pillar it refers to peacebuilding as "non traditional security".

So clearly there is a lot of work ahead to integrate a #PacificWPS agenda into all matters related to peace and human security.

So the work ahead is charged with a feminist commitment to inter-generational, cross Pacific learning and collaboration including with national government officials - parliamentarians and regional inter-governmental organisations including the UN.
