The World Pulse 50: What Storytelling means to me

I'm one of the World Pulse 50 — Storyteller

\"Storytelling, to me, is an important part of the human experience. It is through sharing and hearing stories that we get to know and appreciate each other. We get to see and hear another person’s lived experiences; we get to understand the many ways in which we differ, and the many more ways in which we are the same.



I believe that when a person tells their story in a space where they feel safe, heard and appreciated, it gives them strength and courage to powerfully move forward in life.



When I came across the World Pulse platform in 2011, I remember loving the fact that it was a safe, encouraging space for women to share their stories with each other, and with the world. I remember thinking it was a healing space, because in many cultures, women’s voices are undermined or silenced, so they need spaces like these to help them heal and recover from a lifetime’s experience of disempowerment and discrimination. I continue to admire the vision and heart that fuels the World Pulse community. Thank you, Jensine.



For me, as a person who loves to hear and share stories, finding World Pulse felt like coming home. I’m grateful for this amazing community, and am really happy to be a small part of the great impact it’s having. I feel very blessed, honoured and humbled to be recognised by my sisters today. I appreciate this moment, and I appreciate each of you and your unique stories. Thank you. \"
