The World Pulse 50: What being a Changemaker means to me

I’m one of the World Pulse 50 – Changemaker

We all have ability to respond positively to negative situations. We have what it takes create and sustain change.

When we take steps that lead us to the world of our dreams, the world we desire, that is change.

We are inter-relational by nature. Social beings needing each other.

The humane part of us is filled with empathy for our fellows who are not so blessed as us. So put that to use.

These, for me are enough to drive change. These are all a change maker needs.

So as much as I can, I use my \"\" response-ability\"\" to respond to adverse and negative situations.

I refuse to take the easy way out or play the ostrich.

I challenge status quo because I know that there is so much more.

I reach out for better and then one day, it will become best.

I do not settle for less.

For change happens when I speak up against societal ills. Even when these practices are seen as normal.

If these norms harm one, they harm us all.

One is worth fighting for, worth raising my voice for.

Creating change for me is having courageous conversations that others may want to sweep under the carpet. If no one listens today, someone will listen tomorrow.

So I am not daunted by the discomfort I may feel now.

I am driven by the vision. Our vision.

They are non- negotiable.

I forge on building networks, recruiting others. I know that change can not be made alone, for the fruits are to be enjoyed by us all.

And I give myself to develop my capacity along with my sisters. Together we build our goals.

We are change makers.
