The World Pulse 50: What being a Changemaker means to me

I'm one of the World Pulse 50 — Grand Prize Changemaker

It is my honor to be selected for the Grand Prize in the category of Changemaking and I humbly accept the same.

This prize will further strengthen my resolve towards the larger goal of creating an impact by ushering in positive changes.

In my opinion, change-making is all about transforming people's lives. And this transformation should happen in an organic manner with the beneficiaries having an active role in bringing it in. Only then they will feel a sense of ownership and achievement towards that transformation.

Hence, I feel that individuals and communities should be empowered in such a manner that they become aware of the challenges and problems they are facing. Following that awareness, they will instinctively strive towards finding relevant solutions to their problems.

Human beings usually do not like change, or worse, do not believe that change is possible, and therefore, do not want to work towards it. My goal is to infuse the belief that change is possible and achievable.

My initiative creates awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and how it impacts families and communities. It also inculcates the need to be alert and prevent incidents of trafficking. Finally, it also brings together stakeholders from the government, activists, people, and media in a platform to discuss and find long-term solutions to the menace of trafficking.
