The World March for Peace and Nonviolence. October 2, 2009 January 2, 2010

Welcome, to the first ever World March that travels the world asking for the end of wars, the dismantling of nuclear weapons and for an end to all forms of violence (physical, economic, racial, religious, cultural, sexual and psychological).

Be one of the brave and help us to create a new, non-violent global consciousness!

THE WORLD PEACE MARCH BEGAN ON OCTOBER 2ND THIS YEAR, THE ANNIVERSARY OF GHANDI'S BIRTH, TO GIVE A VOICE TO THE MAJORITY OF WORLD CITIZENDS WHO WANT PEACE

Women for a Change, WFAC, top news by officially endorsing the World Peace March through PLANTING FOR PEACE - WFAC first event in support of World March for Peace and Nonviolence. WFAC supporters will be planting a sapling… for peace.

Whichever way you choose to do it, remember to click a photo and upload it on the community. Jane Young, our tech lady, plans to make a video and she will need loads of those pictures!
email:peacetrees@womenforachange.org

You can see the details in our Events section here.

You can do it any where - in your community garden or in a pot; with your friends & family or just by yourself.

Happy Planting!

According to the organisers, \"Planting a tree is increasingly used as a symbol for peace. Women in many parts of the world, especially those with families, don't find it easy to travel to events. Planting for Peace appeals to us as something we can each do, close to our homes, and at the same time joining with others to promote peace. We don't all have our own gardens. Some are planting in community gardens, some in pots.\"

They want their event to catch on around the World and are asking all those who get involved to send photos of their efforts. \"We will be using the photos to create online mosaics and slideshows of the peace trees. These will represent a powerful message from people throughout the world, who share a vision of finding new and humane ways to deal with conflict.\"

Endorsing the proposals of the World Peace March is fundamental to WFAC's principles. Women for a Change is committed to creating a caring world, through promoting empathy, trust, cooperation and reconciliation.

\"Most war victims and refugees are women and children. Most victims of domestic violence are women. Most of the world's poor are women. This initiative is a simple way in which women can have a voice, and men too!\"

To get involved:

If possible, plant your tree between October 2nd and 4th, and email a photo of your tree-planting to peacetrees@womenforachange.org, stating the country you planted it in.

There is a Facebook events page: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=128209277366
