The virtue of honesty

Today was my first day of new journey and work as a program relationship officer with DeafTawk. I was really excited to be part of a new team for the very reason of the company's slogan that says " bridging the gap" between the many numbers of #deafcommunity and rest of the world by providing online services of sign language interpretation.
I joined them with a #hope of introducing a new chapter of deaf community in GBC (Gilgit Baltistan and Chitral). I had so much in mind, but last night I also got a recommendation email for my #fullyfunded Master Program at Nazarbayev University in #Educational #Leadership that would start in September right after my probation period with DeafTawk would end.
Now given the above facts I had two options. 1. Silently start my new #job and silently leave after the #probation. This was possible but would be so selfish and also so unprofessional as well.
2. Speak to them about my future plan of studying further right after my probation period ends with them. Discuss the possibilities of how as a #team we can negotiate to reach an inclusive conclusion.
I chose option second because just for three months of #salary, putting the entire efforts of the company in vain is not appropriate. It would be wasting the companies #resources and #time. It would be hampering the vision of the #project. It would be #dishonesty and #unprofessionalism .
I take this time to thank and #endorse miss Tehmina Zafar for her warm welcome starting from the interview to a chat in her office. The work she does is incredible, her team management skills are next level and the office environment serves a fresh breath and anybody who would work with them would stay forever, but the universe had something else planned for me.
I was so moved by the professional behavior of her and the team members that I ended up recommending someone who can best fit to the role in my replacement. Today's experience of #honesty taught me the beauty of authentic and selfless #networking and I had a great day!
