The Miracle of Love

first-story
People go through life making logical predictions based on scientific reasoning, but every so often unexpected events happen that are beyond human power. We call these events miracles, and a set of chain miracles has inspired me to love.
Since birth, I have relied on my words to produce movement as debilitating disease killed my muscles, but the ignorance of society stole this sole power of mine. My loss of words would wither my life by stealing the movement needed for creating the source of humanity – my individuality. Yet, contrary to the logic that this hatred would make me a cold-blooded monster, God warmed my heart to be a voice for the silenced.
God would fill my life with love to produce a stark contrast with hate that would strengthen my voice and ignite within me a fiery passion that would propel me to counter hate not with further hatred but with love and respect. Experiencing people no longer controlling me, but granting me the freedom to express my thoughts—however disagreeable—and supporting my wishes gave me the physical movement I needed to create my individual identity to understand the importance of granting every single human the same freedom and support to proliferate life – a treasure I came to cherish after witnessing all God does to keep me alive and heard. I came to value each person’s mere presence as an inimitable thread in the rich tapestry of humanity. Yet, in order for human dignity to flourish, all different voices need to contribute to the story of humanity. This gift of love would teach me to utilize the power of my words to move and empower oppressed people to live freely no matter their limitations. Today, I am inspired to become a human rights lawyer to speak out for others.
This miracle did not lie in who I became. This miracle lay in how the evil of hatred could have turned into love. Only God had the all-surpassing knowledge to create a human with my personality and life experiences to make me react with compassion instead of resenting life and humans.
