United Nations Millennium Development Goal 3: to promote gender equality and empower women. Every day women across the world face many kinds of challenges. Some are specific to their culture or society while others are universal. Some are met in secret while others are the subject of global activism. With the rise of social media, the visibility and effectiveness of advocacy based organisations has grown. On the whole, humankind has become good at identifying and raising awareness for the issues and challenges arising worldwide. World Pulse is one such awareness-raising forum. I want to use this journal to take this space one step further. I hope to be able to not only see the challenges faced by girls and women, but to share some positive solutions that are working in communities.
