Supporting Women Stand Up For Change

first-story
I’m 75 years old. I have some of the chronic pain that comes with aging. My heart thinks it’s time to pack it in, but I’m not letting it. I’m married to a man who respects and reveres women, children and animals. I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. My home abuts a protected grove of old old trees that is a barrier to a salmon run creek. I feed the local birds, and they in turn thank me with their beauty, hearty appetites and lively spirits. I have friends and a spiritual community. I have a modest fixed income that allows me enough money for my needs. I have access to medical care. I received a good education. I am a retired nurse who specialized in mental health and had a successful career for 40 years. I work with some local groups to address issues of injustice and climate change. I am lucky. I am privileged. I am here on World Pulse because I cannot sit back in my comfortable, privileged life, feeling the heartbreak and helplessness of knowing that women and children are being subjugated, tortured, raped, kidnapped and killed around the globe. That girls are being denied their right to education. That the uber wealthy privileged few are greedily using up the planet’s resources and hoarding the wealth; wealth that can be used to end hunger, treat diseases, educate, address climate change and restore power to women. I am here on World Pulse to listen, to encourage, to support and to celebrate the women of the world who courageously step forward to lead in a demand for safety, respect, healing and change. To take their rightful place in solving the problems that have resulted from greed, violence and inequality. To use their woman power to change how we treat each other and how we treat our precious home...Earth.
