Strike Fear and speak up

As my title says I wish to say that fear has kept many woman in bondage. What would people say, I might loose my relationship if I tell people what I’m facing in a mans house , my peers will laugh at me for leaving a mans house to start life over. These are one of the reasons woman don’t speak up and die silently in toxic relationships

I was in a taxi and met one of my very old primary school mate. It was such a great moment since we hadn’t seen each other for years. We huged, reminded ourselves of our primary school days and it was such fun. But then she had her face covered and looking closely I noticed she had swollen left eye and red patches on her face. It dawned on me that she must have experienced violence , before I alighted to my destination I asked her calmly in a polite whisper “dear sister what’s wrong with your face and where did you get all those scars , hope you’re ok and hope it wasn’t a bike or vehicle accident. She bowed her head and tears ran down her chicks. I told her it’s ok and I asked for her contact and said I will call her in the evening if she would be free. So left and later in the evening I called and told her it’s me. I asked for a free time we could meet and talk for I knew she’d definitely have something burning inside to tell me. She quickly said yes she is so free and we could meet and talk.

the next day when I met her Her face was still covered with bruises all over. She narrated to me what she’s been going through in her home. Her husband and her have 2 kids and she was deliberately deprived from working by him nor do any business that could earn her income, she said these bruises are as a result of a conversation she had with him trying to convince him to allow her apply for a job ordi business. He didn’t want to listen and while she tried to tell him she can’t take that anymore he slapped and punched so hard on her and got her well beaten in the midst of their two kids and nanny. She cried herself to bed all night and day. He had earned he never to take their issues to any one not even a family member. Each time he left the house he would go out with her phone and bring it back to her only when he is at home. She lives in so much pain that the only way to express it eas through hidden tears until she met me and spoke to me

and that was the first time she ever mentioned that to anyone

I have handed over her case to a legal officer And an organisation to follow it up and she feels so relieved and can smile and told me she has never felt free to open up to anyone the way she did with me.
