Storyteller's Report: November Thriving Thursday

This was my second #ThrivingThursday as World Pulse’s Community Coordinator and the final session for 2022! As always, it was an hour of celebrating World Pulse’s Digital Ambassadors and a true embodiment of the solidarity that flows through World Pulse’s community. It’s also chance for us to come together in community, share our ideas with one another, train one another, and build connections live.

The fantastic Kirthi Jayakumar was the MC and it was perfect timing as she got to share about the new Digital Empowerment Training Hub. She took the World Pulse community through what is being offered, and how to enrol and access it.

This month’s #ThrivingThursday featured two different trainings by two of our longstanding community members. Arrey-Echi’s breakout room was a POWERFUL presentation on building inclusive organizations, shining a spotlight on the role of empathy. She talked about different aspects of consciously building inclusive and disability-friendly organisations, including budget, representation, work culture and environment, and dismantling unconscious biases.

In the second training, we had an equally powerful presentation by Lisbeth Salifu who talked about communication. She led a rich discussion with the group about how to use communications to bring supporters to your cause; for example for environmentalists to communicate with people who might deny that climate change is actually happening. Lisbeth talked about the importance of engaging with multiple stakeholders and collaborators, and getting your message right in the process.
