A number of sporting activities were conducted. Football matches in schools, communities; volleyball, board games, table tennis. We the support of the friends of Daria in Poland, they gave equipment such as balls, sports uniforms for the teams, etc. The sports games were part of the avenues for mobilizing communities to listen to the messages and interact. Also to encourage the population to take exercise seriously as a lifestyle. This was conducted in various communities in Kasese, Bikurungu and Kampala. It was super exciting. exercise is safe during and after all breast cancer treatments (as long as you take any needed precautions and keep the intensity low) and improves physical functioning, quality of life, and cancer.
Regular physical activity can help maintain or improve your health during and after treatment. It can:
- help avoid or reduce some side effects of cancer treatment, such as fatigue, weight gain, osteoporosis and lymphoedema; improve your long-term health, reducing the risk of heart attacks and strokes, and may reduce the risk of the cancer coming back ; help your mental wellbeing by reducing anxiety, stress, depression and improving your mood; prevent or reduce the loss of muscle tone and general fitness that can happen during and after treat
As well as being active, it’s important to eat a healthy diet.
This is the kind of information we were disseminating. It was important that we worked with the health workers from the health facilities. So the local resources were very instrumental in having our campaign reach out to many people
