Speak for others when we can

I was honored to be one of the recipients of the 2012 Common Wealth Journalists Association's Award. The National Awards on investigative journalism had as themes corruption and Human Rights. I had the second prize and I am flanked there from right to left by those who came in the first and third positions respectively. This is one of my life's greatest achievements.
My award was handed over by the US Ambassador to Cameroon, Robert P Jackson at the residence of the British High Commissioner Bharat Joshi in Yaounde.
Worth noting that my report was on widow's plight in relation to inheritance in the North West Region of Cameroon. I did my investigation on the case of a woman who is presently going through hell after the demise of her husband. Her step-son has not only pushed her into one room with all her children, but also destroyed her kitchen, claimed all the wealth willed to her destroyed the will and calls her a prostitute. The case of the lady in question is in court. She is just one of the thousands of widows who get violated and most of them are dying in silence.
